What ever happened to the Service Req error?

Post by RemoteInstall on Sat Dec 04, 2010 1:10 am

Is it just me or hasn't anyone else on this forum wondered? What the heck happened to the notorious, "Service Required" error message being displayed on some escort, beltronics products? Not that I would like to see such words. Although, what ever happened to the Self Cal Error as well? You don't hear of these error's happening anymore these day's on the 9500i, 9500ix, and the STi, or the Redline for that matter? Also, the E error for V1 is also now elusive? What has happened to these error's did perhaps the company's actually have a software bug as we all thought? A bug they didn't want to admit to us users? Is this why they hid their Rev. numbers in these later models for the most part? It makes me wonder if they just got so much flak that, and bad press that they perhaps had to pay attention to the issues being brought up by the consumers?
My question? When will this transpire with the 35.5Ghz off axis lacking known of about the V1. This is also known as V1 tunnel vision to some? When is this issue going to be discussed and eliminated as well? That's my question? When will my off axis improve V1? Lastly, I understand Mike V that yes you have to, have some tunnel vision to have the arrows work properly. Otherwise how could the system triangulate the position of the officers Lidar, or Radar? Thus, the system has to have more of a, "directional antenna." Perhaps this is the, "reason" that everyone thinks the V1 has tunnel vision. When in reality it is designed this way, or it would not function as intended, and your arrows would be a pointless revolution.

Just some food for thought people.

I have had my share of "service required" error msgs come up on the display of some of my BelEscort models. It is a costly fix to have to send it into BelEscort at $60 each time.

I guess

I guess maybe this error is not what it once was? Perhaps escort and bel fixed their glitches.

Last service required message I got was on a 8500x50 (s7) that I had to get the antenna replaced.

Yup, X50 blue S7! Their cs is excellent, IMHO, for that reason I just bought a redline and a 9500iX. Cool

Service Required

Post by GTO_04 on Sat Dec 25, 2010 9:31 pm

Over the summer I had my STi get hot sitting in the windshield and the range on a K band speed sign dropped to only .02 miles. There was no "Self-Cal" or "Service Required" message. After the STi cooled down the range went back to normal, which was about 1.8 miles.

After a checkup and antenna repair, my STi is working great now though! Wink

V1 definitely needs to address the off-axis 35.5 issue. The rear antenna seems to have much better off-axis 35.5 than the front antenna. I don't believe it has to have that much tunnel vision for the arrows to function. The off-axis K band is very good on the V1, and the arrows work just fine on K band.

Totally agree with GTO_04 here. I also agree that the Redline is far better at off-axis 35.5Ghz Ka Band Radar.

I think "Self Cal" was a product of the S7 platform; I've never heard of anyone getting this on the newer M4 platform (which the newer X50 & RX65 use, as well as the 9500 series). "Service Required" seems to be a rarity on the M4 platform as well. M4 is more reliable than S7 was, though S7 performs better.

I have seen "Service Required" on the M3 platform, as I had to get my Redline repaired a year or so ago. Never heard of "Self Cal" coming up on a M3 either. Perhaps Bel/Escort eliminated this message on the M3 & M4 platforms.

I've got my redline on the way back from escort. It lost k band completely and ka range was down to 200'. affraid No service required message, not cool in this scenario.

Probably a good idea. Don't want to rely on a faulty detector on a long trip. Do you have backup RDs?
